So, Paul, How Did the Campaign Turn Out?
You know what? I had a lot of fun in the campaign for state representative that ended February 2nd. I met a lot of great people, and saw them do some amazing things. I learned a very great deal, too. I stretched myself in ways I never tried before, and did things I never realized I could.
Starting from no experience, no name recognition, no organization, no money, and no party support, and running against an incumbent who had plenty of all of that, I ran an honest, issues-based campaign that I can be proud of. In early January, a telephone survey found I had 10% support among registered voters. Less than a month later, I finished with 38.11% of the actual vote.
Many people have encouraged me to run again. I’m open to the idea. But there are a number of factors beyond my certain control that will have to be taken into account. One of these, of course, is money.
I finished the campaign about $2,200 in debt. Since then, I’ve raised some money, but not enough to retire that debt. Too, if I were to run again, I’d want to have some money in the bank before I start.
If you’re someone who wants to see me run again for the state house, or some other office, please consider contributing by clicking on the “donate” button to the right. It’s the most effective thing you can do to make that happen.
And God bless you!
