Cole’s Poll
I see we’re not the only ones with a poll, although our poll is free, and Rep. Cole’s requires you to contribute an evelope and a stamp. Still, the weekend’s mail produces a mailer from Sandy’ Cole’s office asking to survey us constituents about “the issues.”
I’m particularly drawn to the first question, which asks, “Which of the following issues is of greatest concern to you and your family?” Those “following issues” are: Taxes, Job security, Cost of health care, Saving for retirement, Quality schools, College education expenses for your child, and Other.
Rep. Cole doesn’t include any of a long list of other issues that are important to many people, like abortion (and state funding for abortion), embryo-destructive stem cell research (and state funding for it), defense of marriage, gun rights, illegal immigration, environmental protection, and a host of other issues.
I think that regardless of the results of this survey, the most important thing it reveals is what issues are important to Sandy Cole — and what issues she’s made up her mind about and doesn’t need our input on.
(Besides, in what way is “Job security” an issue? Or “Quality schools”? Is there someone who’s against these things?)
